this song is a personal plea rooting in private insecurities. it is a sister love song to another song i once wrote ("my baby" on soundcloud), but it holds a very different tone
this song has been received as a cute livelong, but its so so so much more than that. i didn't write this as a love song really, i wrote this out of a sense of fear. "where did you go?" "please dont leave me alone" it's fear! i've been a rather independent person my whole life and now i have been struck with this fear of losing a loved one! its terror for the terror im feeling. my voice wobbles and shakes a bit in the song because im... upset! this isnt meant to be a cute love song, its meant to be an expression of a personal fear
i ask to be stayed with "though the fog" which i use to represent my confusion in lack of communication. walk with me through it! hold my hand! talk it out with me so i know what's going on. even if you aren't going to stay with me, at least just walk me through what is going on. don't leave me here! i don't want to just open my eyes one day and things have all fallen apart, unable to have prepared because i was stuck in this fog.
lyrics
pull me close
hold me tighter
keep me close
to your heart
walk with me
through the fog
stay with me
it's okay
extending my hand
out to you
inviting you here
into my heart
where did you go?
please keep holding my hand
don't leave me in this fog
please don't leave me alone
where did you go?
please keep leading me through
i'm scared to open my eyes
and not see you
